2 avril 2014 | Brief on youth unemployment in Canada | "Despite a decline in the rate of youth unemployment over the last twenty years, the situation of youth in relation to the labour market is far from rosy."
3 décembre 2013 | Memorandum with regards to the tabled Bill C-4 | "From the outset, [the] CSN denounces this legislation, which appears to be part of a strategy of the Conservative government to introduce omnibus bills that significantly amend several existing laws, and which serve to confuse more or less attentive observers. The CSN wholly disapproves of the omnibus legislative approach, which upsets the parliamentary process and is a risk, even a danger, for democracy."
1 avril 2013 | Imagine moving forward | Politics are shifting, to put it mildly, from the art of making choices to the art of convincing us that there aren’t any other choices – TINA, There Is No Alternative – dragging us deeper and deeper into a “social recession”. Combined with the current fad for right-wing ideas mixed in with calls for change, you have the context in which the CSN has decided
to launch a grassroots education campaign, in particular with members of its affiliated unions. For representatives of the CSN, the claim that certain choices are now beyond our reach is false. Social justice, equality and equity are not
luxuries that we cannot afford and that we must do without—they are values that must guide our actions.
1 novembre 2012 | Education: a human right, a social responsibility! | Universal access to quality education is a right that should be enjoyed by all Québécers. Education helps us grasp and understand the world and fosters the exercise of citizenship. It ensures a person's development and fulfilment and integration into social life and the work world. Defending education is defending social progress, a fair and democratic society and individual emancipation. |
