Federations
A place of solidarity and sharing
At the CSN, unions organize on a sectoral or professional basis, in federations. There are eight federations, each of which has the responsibility to make available to its union affiliates all the services required for negotiations and the application of collective agreements.
Each federation contains its own governing body: the federal council. Federal councils hold policy conferences every three years, in the course of which they adopt a series of resolutions that form their work plan for the next three years.
The federations manage important sectoral portfolios, develop positions and, just like the CSN itself, function as political representation, participating in parliamentary commissions by submitting briefs. They also support workers in periods of crisis through sectoral campaigns, and also support the CSN’s broader national campaigns.
As such, the federations represent important places of solidarity within the CSN movement.
